SO, gunnie world…
Do you carry 100% of the time AND, have at least one reload at the ready? Inside and outside?
We all know that Special Ops, and SWAT and PD bring back-ups, or have them available with a hand signal or a quick radio call.
But, if you’re a civilian, operating alone, as a private security guard, or with your family in your home, are you prepared? If you live alone are you prepared?
Do you have survival tools, as with an earthquake/flood kit? First Aid, water, rations, extra batteries, fire extinguishers? Blankets?
The popular saying is, when seconds count, the police are minutes away. Or worse.
Have you discussed tactics with the spouse and kids? Flashlight, knife and cellphone use? At home or ‘out in the World’? At the mall? Voice and hand signals?
Have your walked your residence inside and out, in light and dark, looking for cover and concealment, playing games in your head?
This is no different from having a fire drill.
We’ve been told we revert to our training. Otherwise you (and your family) will revert to ‘when in danger or in doubt, run in circles scream and shout.’ (U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1928 cadet manual)
Not the optimum choice. Certainly not the most survivable choice.
Col. Cooper, when discussing reloads, asked, “How many times do you plan on missing?” But that was 30 years ago, without the phony drug raids and home invasions. And ‘flash mob’ gang attacks.
Strategize. Plan. Prepare. Make contingencies with you and your family.
Carry reloads. And practice.
I’m told it makes perfect.
