My good friend Lonnie (a medalled Vietnam veteran) forwarded me an email the other day, asking that when shopping one decode the bar code on the tag. You see, this contains information as to the country of origin of the product.
The idea is to support free nations and avoid buying goods from dictatorial nations (e.g. China).
While I supported this concept, I wanted to check the facts.
Snopes is a ‘fact-checking’ website. Many folks take them as gospel. It turns out they have a political agenda.
They are owned by a couple who gets much of their funding from George Soros’ organizations.
This doesn’t mean they lie, but they do have a tendency to downplay stories with which they disagree.
Anyway, I checked Lonnie’s email content with Snopes.
Here is the result:
The first three digits of the bar code indicate the country of origin
690 – 695 China
471 – Taiwan
Go see the rest – then make your shopping decisions further educated.
Support Freedom!
h/t Lonnie
