VIGILANTES!

Another meme has reared it’s ugly head:  Vigilantes!

Ever since the recent shooting in Florida, which has been given racial import, the charge of vigilantes has been bandied about.  Along with it’s sister meme:  militias.  We remember vigilante from the NY Subway V________ Bernhard Goetz.  Of course, it’s just used in popular culture to inflame tensions, as if one is a true vigilante, a member of a committee of vigilance, one must be, by definition, plural.  Militias are part of our history, and not always a negative part.  The Southern Poverty Law Center (a Progressive-based propaganda association) has been spewing misinformation since before Waco to inflame and misinform the populus about militias, with a big-government/gun control/race-baiting agenda.  You may note I offer no linkage here.  Committees of Vigilance are a time-honored tradition (mostly). So are militias. Progressives want to taint these traditions to keep the civilian population from regaining control from corrupt local governments. We’ve seen these movies wherein towns of the Old West were taken over by criminal mobs. This never happened in real life for long, as the civilians took control back.
Certainly, there exist quasi-political gang organizations using the name militia. But that doesn’t negate the natural law governing real militias.  Real civilians taking back their government from criminals.
The Battle of Athens, Tennessee is the quintessential example. And this wasn’t in 1846...it was in 1946!
