I’m left-handed. Sinestral. Strongly so.
My right hand is only good generally for using a computer mouse.
Back-in-the-day, when I was an armed security guard, I carried left-handed. Many of those years I used my friend Dave (the genius mechanic’s) Ruger Security Six – as I was gun poor.
We security folks even participated in competition, not unlike IPSC competition, but one had to be a licensed security guard to participate. (Burns, Pinkerton’s, Del Webb, all the big Valley security folks were invited.)
And I was dead-on with my right (OFF) hand, unlike most of the folks who couldn’t shoot their own foot with their left hand, if required to do so in the stage. Whenever there was a weak-hand stage, I was brought up to the front, because I as capable of actually doing it.
This was because I practiced with my right hand, both supported and unsupported.
Do YOU practice with your off hand? Both supported and unsupported?
In the real World, it might become necessary to shoot with your off-hand. Let’s hope not. You need both feet!

Of course, I have no business commenting on a gun post, but I will anyway!
I have long maintained that left handers (such as myself and Guffaw) are much better with their right hands than righties are with their lefts. We HAVE to be, we live in a right-handed world. So, it doesn’t surprise me that Guffaw can shoot the pants off of his competition, although I applaud his dedicated practice. It only makes sense.

Posted by guffaw1952 | October 16, 2012, 7:41 amNot only do I routinely practice with my off-hand (I’m left-handed as well, BTW) but I practice from the ground, as one never knows when one might get knocked down and have to make a hasty shot from that position. Train like you might have to fight and do so every chance you get.

Posted by guffaw1952 | October 16, 2012, 7:45 amLike you, I’m a lefty. When I practice (recent experience has been lacking, but I’m working on that), I can shoot 90% as well with my right hand, as with the other. I suspect Tomi is correct.

Posted by guffaw1952 | October 16, 2012, 9:11 amI am a lefty too:) yes, I do practice with my off hand though.

Posted by Old NFO | October 16, 2012, 6:19 pmIt’s so great to hear not only are many of you left handed, but, many do practice with both hands!
Hurray for us!
