Give No Quarter!
The kerfluffle over ‘over 10 round magazines’ hit home the other day. As if one extra round suddenly transforms the law-abiding into sociopathic murderers! First, the David Gregory business, wherein he violated Washington D.C. felony law possessing one (and displaying it publicly on national television!)
And it’s come out that an ‘assault weapon’* (whatever THAT is) wasn’t used in the recent school shooting. Of course Rahm Emanuel said. “Never give a sucker an even break!” “Never let a crisis go to waste!”
and then this…
The subject came up in a conversation and the other person (a gun owner who dislikes gun control) said to me, “What’s the big deal about magazines? I don’t have any 30 rounders; don’t want any – let them have them. I don’t care, it doesn’t affect me.“
They just don’t get it. Slippery slope and all that. Think of all the progress legitimate firearms ownership has made over the past 20 years, the number of States now with CCW and Constitutional Carry. Stand your ground laws. And they want to fritter others rights away because it doesn’t affect them, personally.
I responded, “Are you willing to give up your 13 and 17 rounders for your beloved Browning High Power?”
“Oh, Hell No!” was the response.
Molon Labe, my friends. The wolf is at the door. Do we defend ourselves or roll over?

Call, write (snail mail) your Congressman and Senators. And the President. Do it now! Then do it again!
No quarter! We’ve gained so much ground, do not give an inch.
*assault weapon – a term used to impart evil intent to the tool, itself. See Saturday Night Special

The Left is losing its momentum rapidly on this one: another case of “they’ve gone too far, too fast” and the backlash is just beginning.
Posted by Rev. Paul | January 3, 2013, 8:20 amI hope you’re right. And the backlash is sustainable.
Posted by guffaw1952 | January 3, 2013, 8:27 amI believe it is sustainable. I have never seen such a unified opposition.
Posted by jay352 | January 3, 2013, 9:02 amI’d like to think so.
BUT, back in ’94 we didn’t think that AWB would pass, either.
Then, over Thanksgiving weekend, the Reps caved.

Posted by guffaw1952 | January 3, 2013, 9:38 amAnd I believe the Blue Bloods in the GOP will cave once more. There are a few Tea party types that will refuse but it may not be enough.

Posted by guffaw1952 | January 3, 2013, 10:21 amDoing my part on Facebook. Ask every poster on “assault weapons” to Google “1905 Winchester”. Nothing new here folks except appearance. Only 10 round magazine? Rifle was designed to fit a saddle scabbard.
Posted by WellSeasonedFool | January 3, 2013, 9:57 amGood for you! I pretty much have written FB off, except family. Political stuff just gets too nasty.
And an excellent point!
Posted by guffaw1952 | January 3, 2013, 10:10 amAlready done…
Posted by Old NFO | January 3, 2013, 10:07 amNo surprise here.
And thanks!
