Gun Appreciation Day

Today has been designated the first national Gun Appreciation Day!

On 01.19.13 got to your local gun store, gun range or gun show with your Constitution, American Flags and ‘Hands Off My Guns’ sign to send a loud and clear message to Congress and President Obama.

Most of the media coverage I’ve seen on the Internet of this event has been negative, e.g. why the coincidental day with MLK Day, after all, he was shot?

Maybe MADD should have a similar day recognizing when Senator Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge with Mary Jo Kopechne?  Isn’t that the same logic?  Perhaps we should ban booze?  Oh wait, that was done, and ended poorly.

Regardless, go to the website and sign the petition, in an effort to reach 50 million Americans.  Please.  Then go celebrate your rights.

And be careful out there!

  1. Every day is “gun appreciation day” at my house. I go to the range at least once a week, and gun stores/shows as often as practical. One day isn’t going to cut it, people.

The task, as I see it, is to help people understand self ownership, self responsibility and non-aggression as the best way to live in peace – which I believe is the goal of all rational human beings. There will always be irrational and aggressive people, and they must be dealt with from a position of moral and ethical strength. The guns alone can’t begin to accomplish that, of course. It takes moral and ethical individuals, willing to use these excellent tools and many others, to make it happen.

FEAR

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - Bene Gesserit, from Frank Herbert's Dune
