Senate Committee Approves Assault Weapons Ban
WASHINGTON – The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved a renewed assault-weapons ban, advancing the measure to the Senate floor where it will face intense resistance from Republicans and other gun-rights supporters.
The bill was approved by the committee on a party-line, 10-8 vote. Chief sponsor, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said she knows “the road is uphill” for the legislation, but sought to press her colleagues to consider the bill. This doesn’t mean we can rest on our laurels – quite the opposite. PLEASE keep the pressure on our Senators to separate the wheat from the chaff and NOT support this further rights-encroaching legislation!Or, soon coming across the border…Brought to you by enemies both foreign and domestic.h/t We the people

This is NOT good, but not unexpected.

Posted by Murphy's Law | March 14, 2013, 12:40 pmUnderstood. But no. Sorry.
Posted by guffaw1952 | March 14, 2013, 4:29 pmI’m still trying to wrap my head around the huge cuts to defense and other agencies that keep people safe, taking a 10 to 20% pay hit and veteran benefit programs getting whacked while taxpayers spent over 2 billion on fancy cell phones we can’t afford for people on welfare.
Posted by brigid | March 14, 2013, 7:42 pmNot gonna happen. (The aforementioned head wrapping) You’re logical.
Posted by guffaw1952 | March 15, 2013, 7:24 amSorry B, I agree with the sentiment but there is something that needs to be clear. There are NO BUDGET CUTS.
There are NO federal programs that have a nickle less than they did last year.
In fact, they have more. An increase in spending is not a “cut”. This BS we see is a “decrease in the increase.”
There are legitimate concerns about veteran benefit programs that are certainly WAY more important than cell phones for 3rd generation welfare leeches and hundreds of millions for the muslim brotherhood. That is a function of money allocation that sane politicians should be able to figure out…if only we had some!
We taxpayers spend more money on the Dept of Defense than the rest of the planet COMBINED spends on their DOD. I don’t know if mideast unrest is included in that bucket ‘o cash but if it is, we are getting hoodwinked badly.
Checkbook diplomacy is a waste of time and our money. If only some of some of that money would be used wisely.
I’m only 55 but unrest in the middle east is the only thing I’ve ever known – there has never been REST in the middle east. It has been that way since time has been recorded and will be the same when time stops.

My job (sorry Matt!) is to bring up things of interest to my tiny readership. And sometimes alerts regarding liberty and occasional silliness.
And I truly hope to see you all again!
