The MSM has been ruminating, of late, regarding the NEXT Presidential Election. Keep in mind in 2014, it’s the Congressional (off year) election, making the Presidential Election THREE YEARS AWAY (2016) from now!
The reason for all this undesired attention? Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, former Senator, and former First Lady of the Presidency and Governorship (of Arkansas) is making noises about running! After she promised she wouldn’t, of course.
And as the last presidential election was all about electing a Black Man – as though that were some kind of qualification – this one is being countenanced about electing a Woman. Same counter-argument. Of course, we all know that all Blacks think the same and all women do, too. A slam-dunk, right? Tell that to Governor Sarah Palin.
“A woman will get us out of wars, because their’s is the gentle gender.” Just ask Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gandhi and Golda Meir.
So, with regard to qualifications, exactly how does Ms. Clinton qualify?
Uh, she was a lawyer, but never renewed her license. At age ~27 she was fired for being a liar and an unethical lawyer in the Watergate Investigation. Whitewater, Wikileaks, Iran, Iraq, Sandy Berger, Benghazi, Vince Foster, any of those names ring a bell?
Her voting record in the Senate – incidentally, how does a disgraced Arkansas lawyer suddenly become a transplanted New Yorker, and get elected Senator? I guess Bobby Kennedy did it, though. And her non-starterhood as the last Secretary of State.
What has she done, lately, aside from unofficially run for office? And, of course, she was the co-President to her ‘husband’ Bill. Scary stuff.
The scariest is the ‘loyal opposition’ Republicans have very few real contenders. And their party is in a shambles. And the other choice, Libertarians, are by nature and definition not confrontational.
What to do?
Heinlein’s Law – They’re ALWAYS someone to vote against!
PS – This just in – the (Democratic Governor-Elect just made Hillary-for-President noises after winning last night. Not surprising as he was a previous
bag man shill supporter of Bill and Hill !)
h/t HuffPo (believe it or not!)
From Fox News:
. . . The plot successfully faked names and signatures on both the Obama and Clinton presidential petitions that were used to place the candidates on the ballot. So many names were forged — an estimated 200 or more — that prosecutor Stanley Levco said that had the fraud been caught during the primary, “the worst that would have happened, is maybe Barack Obama wouldn’t have been on the ballot for the primary.” . . .
In court, former longtime St. Joseph County Democratic Chairman Butch Morgan, Jr. was sentenced to one year behind bars, and is expected to serve half that, as well as Community Corrections and probation. Former St. Joseph County Board of Elections worker and Democratic volunteer Dustin Blythe received a sentence of one year in Community Corrections and probation, which means no jail time. . .
AND, yesterday, the United States Supreme Court decided that Arizona elections officials violated federal law by requiring voter registrants to provide proof of United States citizenship when registering to vote (via the AZ Motor-Voter Law only).
So, in theory, this decision only affects those States that allow illegal aliens to possess Driver Licenses…
Think this’ll be a problem ?
NAW. (I’m kidding)
“Pay no attention to the illegal voters behind the curtain of the voting booth!”

Seems AGWG is upset with SSAOA. They recently relocated from Luna, NM to Pinetop AZ, reportedly looking for more ‘freedom-loving’ folk.
SSAOA made an announcement after the recent election, as follows:
Effective immediately, if you voted for Obama, your money is no good here. You have proven beyond a doubt that you are not responsible enough to own a firearm. We have just put a sign up on the front door to save you the trouble of walking all the way in here….
I took this ad out in our local paper. It will come out in the White Mountain Independent tomorrow, 9 November
Southwest Shooting Authority of Arizona
Now, if you read this blog, you know I’m all for free speech, free markets and protest. A Geek With Guns thinks it’s inadvisable to reject the President’s supporters out-of-hand. As Mr. Burg stated:
Statements like the one made by Southwest Shooting Authority of Arizona reinforces the stereotype that all gun owners are hardcore Republicans and therefore delegates the issue of gun rights to an “us” versus “them” debate.
Of course, only a fool would patronize his establishment announcing they had voted for The President in the process. I happen to know a couple folks (a minority, I grant you) who are pro-gun, but didn’t care to vote for Governor Romney.
I remember a close friend of yore, who voted similarly for William Jefferson Clinton, because they just couldn’t take George H. W. Bush. It happens. Not everyone is a single-issue voter.
But, we’re still a free society, and we may patronize any business we see fit. Or not.
Guffaw’s got the blues…
I try not to let the state of
the World the Nation my life get to me. I try not to be self-centered. I do realize that there’s very little I can do regarding the state of either the World or the Nation. I’ve let my opinions be known, and I voted. I’ve spoken out on this blog. In many places on the globe these things are not allowed, and subject to sever penalties.
But, I can do something about my attitude! I’m approaching a landmark anniversary in my life (if you reckon in Base 10); I’ve no partner to share it with; no money – on disability (which is both a description of lack of funds and physical ability).
I’ve a number of chronic conditions, and seem to acquire more every day. I owe medical bills.
I drive a 13 year old car, when I can afford gasoline.
And last Summer, because my disability income is 60% lower than my previous meager income, I lost my home. (“We lived in a hallway!” “We dreamed of living in a hallway-we lived in a cardboard box!” – Monty Python) Fortunately, a good friend offered me a place to stay.
Two weeks ago, my sister had a minor stroke. (If there is such a thing). She’s back to work, and coping, but it does get one’s attention.
But all is not lost.
Re: this upcoming calendar mark – My new neighbor and EX-wife (and friend) contacted me, and asked if she could put a little celebration together in my honor!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, “If you have friends, you have everything!” You know, like the end of that Christmas movie…
Time to remove my head from it’s regular inverted resting place and get moving.
Thanks for listening.
SO, of the competitors Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Tweedledum won.
SO WHAT? BUCK UP!
That third party guy GOOD IDEA received the most votes that party has ever received in a presidential election!
What do we know, now?
The once and future President of the United States promotes policies with which many of us disagree: More gun control, more Internet control, less free speech, more of our troops to unwinnable wars, more redistribution of wealth, support for other countries use of child soldiers, continued Federal attacks on State-legal marijuana dispensaries, quadrupling the warrantless wiretaps since the Bush era, continuing and expanding the so-called PATRIOT ACT, granting the FBI access to private communications without warrant, renewed FISA warrantless spying on banking and wireless communication, continuing the horrendous Federal Reserve QE debacles, and,
LEAVING OUR AMBASSADOR AND FORMER NAVY SEALS TO DIE IN LIBYA, WHEN HELP WAS AVAILABLE. AND HE WAS WATCHING VIA LIVE FEED.
Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t? Let’s make a two-pronged effort: 1) Pay attention to any government attempts to violate our rights, and be vocal in our response, and 2) Reform the opposition party so the leadership no longer consists of big government RINOs, to give us a real choice in the next election. Like Mr. GOOD IDEA was supposed to.
Because you just know Hillary is waiting in the wings for 2016…
Future Senator Bluto Blutarsky said it best: Let’s GO!
There has been increasing ‘chatter’ on the Internet over the past few weeks, regarding the all-but-predictable rioting to occur IF the evil, nasty, richer-than-God Republicans take the White House in a close race.
Because (it is always suggested) they will have stolen the race through voter fraud and intimidation.
This is the same tactic always used by The Left (see Cloward & Piven and Saul Alinsky). Accomplish your goal by any means, then shift blame by pointing the finger at the other side and yelling “that’s what THEY did!” as often as possible.
It’s the same stuff we saw from the Soviet Union/Red China during the Cold War (they would invade/infiltrate some country, then scream about U.S. Imperialism), and during the last election with the intimidation of voters and ballot tampering by the New Black Panther Party and the Left.
And we’re seeing it yet again.
Funny the assumptions are that all Democrats (especially Black Democrats) are unthinking, violent offenders, just waiting to strike, and that if Romney wins, it MUST be because of voter fraud.
And we’re the racists.
The threats to riot were accompanied by an even greater number of tweets threatening to assassinate Mitt Romney.
Numerous errors with electronic voting machines have become apparent over the last two weeks.
Early voters in Marion County who attempted to vote for Mitt Romney saw the electronic touch screen replace their choice with Barack Obama instead. Joan Stevens had to input her selection three times before it displayed correctly.
“You want to vote for who you want to vote for, and when you can’t it’s irritating,” Stevens told the Marion Star.
Voters in Guilford County, North Carolina experienced the same problem. Every time a vote for Romney was entered, the machine flipped it and counted it as a vote for Obama.
I overheard part of a broadcast (Bill Maher – I no longer watch him) the other morning suggesting that the Republicans need to fire-up the base of white males (the obvious suggestion being no one else will vote for Romney) to win the election. Not that there was any racial undertone in the statements…because we all know not voting for The President is because we’re racist! Couldn’t have anything to do with policies?
I voted a couple weeks ago by snail mail. I’m hoping all of you have voted/will vote as well. FOR WHOM is your business. This is not a union election – secrecy of your vote is encouraged.
This Country has survived much, and it will survive President Obama and Gov. Romney. Be part of the process, tomorrow!
So, hear I am, poised over my mail-in ballot, making my choices. (written over one week ago) Do I hold my nose with one hand (figuratively) or make a third-party choice. You will never know, as I believe in the Australian Secret Ballot!
For those who didn’t care for the previous administration (and those who don’t care for the current one) here’s a partial list of current administration foibles, many carry-overs from the previous administration.
SO, Tweedledum or Tweedledee?
Quelle surprise. One of my favorite Southern homilies (PS – I’m not from the South) is:
“What do you expect from a pig but a grunt!”
From the article:
The Obama administration is making it easier for bureaucrats to take away guns without offering the accused any realistic due process. In a final rule published last week, the Justice Department granted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) authority to “seize and administratively forfeit property involved in controlled-substance abuses.” That means government can grab firearms and other property from someone who has never been convicted or even charged with any crime.
It’s a dangerous extension of the civil-forfeiture doctrine, a surreal legal fiction in which the seized property — not a person — is put on trial. This allows prosecutors to dispense with pesky constitutional rights, which conveniently don’t apply to inanimate objects. In this looking-glass world, the owner is effectively guilty until proved innocent and has the burden of proving otherwise. Anyone falsely accused will never see his property again unless he succeeds in an expensive uphill legal battle.
Such seizures are common in drug cases, which sometimes can ensnare people who have done nothing wrong. James Lieto found out about civil forfeiture the hard way when the FBI seized $392,000 from his business because the money was being carried by an armored-car firm he had hired that had fallen under a federal investigation. As the Wall Street Journal reported, Mr. Lieto was never accused of any crime, yet he spent thousands in legal fees to get his money back.
Go and read the whole article, if you can stomach it. The Washington Times
Then remember BOTH MAJOR PARTIES running in November support and have historically supported more government asset seizure and gun control.
Kinda makes pulling that lever more complicated, doesn’t it? Or sickening.

Go and read the link – if you dare without the now ubiquitous barf bag.
There’s an easy answer:
I’m a libertarian. Small L. While I follow the national party news, I’m not a member. I’ve been a registered libertarian voter since 1976.
How have I voted? I’ve a stock answer for that question, courtesy of a friend from long ago, Bud:
“The Australian Secret Ballot is one of our most cherished possessions.”
I’ve no plans to endorse any specific candidate in this blog. Of course, that may change. Currently, I know I’m not a fan of the class-warfare, income-redistributionist, nanny-statism, big spending policies of the current administration. I’m not a fan of the PATRIOT Act, TSA, and Department of Homeland Security efforts put in place by the previous administration, either.
Which brings me to the question. In the Modern World, should the United States remain the World’s Policeman? (Monroe Doctrine 2.0) Hard corp libertarians say no – stay out of foreign entanglements, as President Washington desired.
Others say, it depends on the situation.
Weasel Zippers has a link to Big Government, wherein Candidate Ron Paul, Republican nee Libertarian, was asked this very question.
As if he were in FDR’s shoes, at a time when the United States was not in danger of attack from Nazi Germany, BUT, had knowledge of the activities of the Holocaust.
Candidate Paul responded in the negative – NO, he would NOT have used United States resources, would not have risked American lives, to end the Holocaust (under the conditions posted in the question).
Of course, The United States WAS at risk of invasion as the European continent was falling to the national socialists. So the wording of the question may be fallacious.
But, it begs the point.
As a nation should we confront evil, wherever we find it? Just because it is evil? How many dictators have we supported because they were ‘friendly’ to the United States? Or had resources we needed? And how many oppressive regimes did we ignore? Or simply choose not to combat? Should we have?
Or should we always be isolationist, protect our borders and turn a blind eye to the rest of the World’s problems?
I personally don’t think we should be wholly isolationist, but, don’t think we should be jumping in everywhere, either.
The Sudan? Somalia? Iran? North Korea? Where does our interests outweigh our neutrality?
Just a fun thought for your drive to work this morning – Happy Motoring!
