Self – Aggrandizing S.O.B.!

Self -  Aggrandizing S.O.B.!

Uh, that would be me…

If one were to mouse their way to the upper left corner of this blog (or any other WordPress blog) next to the capital W within the circle where the blog name is located (and my tiny photo), and mouse-over the blog name, one would find a short pull-down menu.  Upon which the felicitous phrase Random Post is to be found.

Clicking on said phrase bring you just that.  A random previous posting from my blog.  A great way to get to know my blog, that about which I write (or steal :-) ) and such.

I only mention this because, while I am a geek of sorts, I really just play one on the Internet, and just found this out!  After I’ve been blogging almost two years, and using WordPress for almost one!

(Warning – there is a lot of tripe amidst the flotsam and jetsam therein, including mixed metaphors.)

If It LOOKS Like A Duck…

I’ve been feeling ‘poorly’ for the past week or so.  Not that I don’t usually, having diabetes, neuropathy, arthritis and ‘weight issues’, but even more so.

I’ve been enjoying much of the Summer, taking an early morning swim at the community pool most every other morning before I do the blog thing.  This past week I’ve not felt up to it – chalked it up to increased pain, general malaise and the fact I possess chronic illnesses.

But, another element has been added.  My roomie (who has her own health issues) has been feeling poorly, too, coupled with bouts of gut pain and more recently chills (!)  Now she normally has some other issues which produce excessive warmth (she’s gonna kill me for writing this) so chills usually aren’t in the equation.  Nor is gut pain.

Suddenly, it occurred to me:  The Flu!  I don’t generally get colds and flu, but she does, and this makes perfect sense, especially with both of us having ‘issues’ simultaneously.  I even ran our total symptoms past a friend who is a nurse, and not only did she agree, but thinks she has a mild case, as well.  She had chills last night!

So, guess we ride it out.  I seem to be doing better, and Roomie’s symptoms are subsiding.  Whew!

Perhaps this is what’s wrong with WordPress, lately?

As Charlie Brown always said, “ARRRGGGHHH!”

I’ve been having issues with the WordPress software for a few days.

HELP.

I attach a photo or an image to my post (as I did with the previous post re:  saps), click ‘Save Draft’, and the image disappears!

THEN, it appears in the post, as planned.  Until I edit it.  Then it goes away for good!

WTF?

Any suggestions regarding how to keep the imagery from going away?   WordPress has been of no assistance.  – Guffaw

(I’d place a graphic here, but, well, you know…)

UPDATE – apparently, the flaw has now been fixed!  Huzzah!

Today’s You Tube

Approximately five weeks after this blog changed software from Blogger to WordPress, I’ve been able to add another field to Today’s Funny and Today’s Beauty.  I’m a slow learner.

Today’s You Tube

On the previous blog there was an application to add You Tube video.  WordPress technology is a little more daunting, at least for me.  Fortunately bluesun provided me with the information necessary to make this possible, again.

AND, the field is enlargeable for better viewing!  The plan is to change it daily, as with the Quote, Funny and Beauty.

Today’s entry is a modern cobbling-together of material as a trailer for Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.

On the sidebar for your enjoyment. – Guffaw

One Month in the New Digs…

Still getting used to WP.  Still learning.  Because most of my blogroll/folks I read on GBBL (Thanks, for the memories, North!) continue to use Blogger, when I leave comments on their blogs, it’s easier to leave them with the Blogger return.  Obviously, some of my readers have yet to find my new home.  :- (

And some have yet to correct their links to Guffaw in AZ (http://armedlaughing.wordpress.com/).

WordPress is a little less user-friendly (at least for non-computer geeks, like me).

I’ve not yet taken the time to move the ads; uncertain if I want to.  They seem to have been more trouble than they were worth.
I AM liking the cleaner-looking environment, as well as the likes, in addition to comments.  And the more viewable Today’s Funny and Today’s Beauty.

Now, if WP just didn’t charge to add video (YouTube)?

Stats: 3,184 views in the past month in the new place as of this morning!

“NEVERMIND” – Emily Litella strikes again!

SO…

I researched at length my WordPress theme The Morning After (which it was beginning to feel like) and determined it’s fancy-schmancy!
In short, when I prepare a new post, I may choose to stick the previous (or any other post) to the front page of the blog!
Having found this control, I have done so, and now Guffaw in AZ really looks as a blog should!
Thanks kind readers for all your help and advice.  I’m still in the learning curve!

OKAY, WordPressers…HELP!

Not being a real geek (I just play one on the blogs, poorly) I’ve developed a ‘problem.’  Or rather, the blog has.
Whenever I add a post, it rises to the top, as it should, being the first one visible in the queue.  Titled:  Latest Post
HOWEVER, if I add a subsequent post, IT rises to the top, negating the previous post.  The only way to see the previous post is to click on Archives, March 2012.
Not listing the previous posts in a column leaves a rather large white hole on the left side of the blog.
I’ve tried changing settings under Appearance, Tools and Settings on the Dashboard.

Any suggestions on where/how to change the blog settings to list my posts in a column?

Update PS – I marked the previous post as ASIDE, instead of Standard, and got it to show up!?  Without a title…?

Update PPS – If you read the newer post (above this one) you’ll see the problem has been resolved!  Thank you.

Well, Here We Are, AGAIN…

It was ONE YEAR AGO today I began blogging. Who knew I’d still be at it a year later?
I started a blog beginning with a post on BLOGGER entitled Well, Here We Are…
Much has happened in this year:  Government wholesale abridgement of rights, inflation, unemployment, war, protests.  In other words, nothing much has changed.
My friend Mark left us, suddenly.  My stepmother passed away.  And I got a year older.
Not much wiser I’m afraid.
I did change from BLOGGER to WordPress as a blogging software platform.  Less user-friendly, but more elegant looking.
All the posts and comments from the previous Guffaw in AZ have been imported to
this blog.
If you followed me before, please follow me again.
Hope to see you around my new digs!

Thanks for continuing to stop by!

FEAR

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - Bene Gesserit, from Frank Herbert's Dune
