Pirate Day? AGAIN?

OKAY, I’m late for Talk Like A Pirate Day.

Sorry I missed it.  This week’s Internet connectivity and other ‘issues’ kept me otherwise engaged.  And not in a good way.

But, I’ve a pirate story, and cannot wait another year to share it.  So, here it is…

Some years back, I was dating a lovely redhead  (no, not Brigid) who, not unlike me has a twisted sense of humor.  It’s one reason we got along – for 3 1/2 years, anyway…

ANYWAY, she visited the ophthalmologist for an eye examination.  You remember, “Is this better…or this?”  But unlike any eye exam I’d ever been to, the doc gave her a black eye patch with elastic to obscure each eye individually, rather than the ubiquitous plastic paddle.

She put it on and faced the chart, saying, “Oh!  The Pirate Eye Test, huh?”, then loudly exclaimed while looking at the chart, “AY!”  “ARR!”

The eye doc was almost in tears from laughter.  He obviously couldn’t wait to share it with the next patient.

Hope you had a good Pirate Day and didn’t have to walk the plank.

  2. Oh, that’s good! I had to wear am eye patch for about a week after I stuck a piece of branch in my eye putting up a tree blind (honestly the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced in my life). When I was duty officer I put a fake parrot on my shoulder. The boss dared not say anything. It’s the red hair.
