Newtown, Connecticut

Connecticut school shooting: 20 children among 28 dead

It’s being reported by multiple sources that one shooter is dead, a second remains at large.

Please keep the innocent souls in this horrible event in your thoughts and prayers.

Of course, even with few facts, the usual folks are clamoring for more gun control – as if criminals obey all the current laws.

  1. It amazes me how fast the gun haters start their crap after a tragedy like this. All I have done is post condolences. Calling for gun control before they even process the crime scene is just disgusting to me.

  2. Terrible indeed. And it is really hard to understand why so many people think making MORE of us helpless potential victims will solve the problem. I asked one person if she thought just maybe if the first man shot had been able to defend himself that, just maybe, nobody else would have been hurt except, perhaps, the attacker. She just could not accept that and demanded that “all the guns should be collected and destroyed.” I asked her how she thought that could happen, and furthermore, why she thought being helpless would protect her against someone trying to kill her some other way – say with his bare hands – or did she think all of our hands should be chopped off and destroyed as well. … so far, no answer.

All of these people, especially the children, were simply sitting ducks. Ready made victims just waiting for a madman to come along. How many times does this have to happen before we stop leaving them all so vulnerable?

  3. What you & Mr. Fowler said. Evil knows no bounds, and the blood dancers in the press know no decency.

  4. Robert, it’s disgusting to all of us. And it never ends….
My heart aches for those families that have to endure this

Last night the news folks were talking/hand wringing about the Oregon mall shooter and “What made this man do this?” Apparently, “He just went nucking futs” is just too easy of an explaination.
They feel the need to delve into if he was potty trained properly, bullied in school, hugged enough etc., etc.
Some people just aren’t wired right.
The sad thing is that the Brady bunch, Fineswines and McCarthys think they have the wisdom and knowledge to say who is wired “right”. Giving these idiots control over our lives is an insanity that some sheep find soothing.

  5. To those who both say that truth is malleable, the “do what feels right to me” crowd: Here, take this, you own it. And get used to it. You know that “choice” you love? Well, this guy and fellow perp just made a choice. You don’t like it? Too bad – it was THEIR choice, which is all that’s left when absolutes of right and wrong are tossed aside. If the same number of guns now present in the U.S. were dropped into the U.S. 100 years ago these mass shootings would not be happening because self-discipline and a belief in right and wrong and an eternal judgement still existed in our society. And punishment, not psychoanalys, was the assumed end result of such extreme actions against society.
