Bigotry and/or Discrimination?

Army veteran banned from daughter’s school after posting picture of weapons permit, report says (on Facebook)

“I am a private person, however after serving OUR country, it is my DUTY to make sure that our lives are not infringed upon, however do it all within the confinements of the LAW, I am a law abiding citizen”

– Tanya Mount

Tanya Mount says she was approached by a police officer from the Richmond County Board of Education at McBean Elementary School and was warned that she was about to get a criminal trespass warning.

“I am a private person, however after serving OUR country, it is my DUTY to make sure that our lives are not infringed upon, however do it all within the confinements of the LAW, I am a law abiding citizen”

– Tanya Mount

The officer told her that the principal at the school was “scared” of her and did not want her on the school property, she told the station.

This proud woman is a veteran, a woman and a mother.  She is also Black.  Did this enter into the school’s ridiculous decision, or at least into the media picking up on it?  Seriously, if she’d been a middle-aged white guy, would this have made any news?

  1. It did make the news here in Michigan. Look up Clio schools and dad open carry at school. If I remember right, he was legal, but school had him ushered out.

I’m not getting the connection any of the above has to do with anything. Well, I get the mother part…her kid’s school.
Were this permit holder not a vet, woman or black doesn’t matter. They don’t get any special handling or privilege.

The principle (misnomer of the year) has her/his panties sufficiently wadded and has proved themself an idiot. Unless we’re not getting the whole story..like why did anyone from the school check this gals FacePlant page in the first place.

    • Well, KM, you distilled it!
I think initially the media didn’t pick up on the gender, ethnicity or service status of the person. But the school district certainly did.
And, as you stated, WHY would school denizens even be on FB?
