Anton Szandor LaVey and Aleister Crowley Must Be Dancing!

Somewhere…

In January the Satanic Temple announced plans to erect a monument glorifying the Dark Lord on the front lawn of the Oklahoma Statehouse. An Indiegogo campaign was launched with what seemed like a somewhat lofty goal of $20,000, but by the time donations ended almost $30,000 had been raised. Now an artist trained in classical sculpture is toiling away in New York, crafting a Baphomet figure sitting beneath a pentagram and flanked by two children gazing upward in loyalty. When it is finished, it will be cast in bronze and, the Satanists hope, eventually displayed in Oklahoma.

The statue is a direct response to the state’s installation of a Ten Commandments monument outside the Capitol in 2012. State Representative Mike Ritze paid for the controversial statue with his own money, and therefore it was considered a donation and OK to place on government property. Following that line of reasoning, the Satanic Temple submitted a formal application for their monument.

As Trait Thompson of the Oklahoma Capitol Preservation Commission told CNN last December, “Individuals and groups are free to apply to place a monument or statue or artwork.” The applications are then approved or rejected by the Commission. Unfortunately, the state has placed a halt on issuing permits for any other monuments until a lawsuit filed by the ACLU against Ritze’s Commandments monument is settled.

satanicNow I’m all about freedom OF religion and freedom FROM religion, when it comes to State entities.  But, paradoxically I do support the notice that the Judeo-Christian ethic helped found this great nation.  I’ve no problem with the Ten Commandments being posted proudly in the Supreme Court chamber, for example.

But, I don’t remember any Satanists (not to be confused with Wiccans or practitioners of Santaria) being involved in the crucible of the United States.

What Ever Happened To The Great Melting Pot?

Should we be concerned about the Arabic one?  You know, where they keep on trying to pass Sharia law?  Otherwise, an interesting take on the evolution of language in the U.S.

Last I knew, California has their ballots in 13 different languages!  Now, I’m not for an ‘official’ language, but I strongly support the use of English as a common one.

Just for simplicity, cost, and melting pot sake…

Returned For Re-Grooving!

There’s been much ‘press’ lately with regard to sports team owners and figures expressing themselves, and being held accountable for their statements.  Regular readers know I’ve little interest in sports, so if I get some details wrong forgive me I don’t care!

  • a team owner makes some statements about some players using politically incorrect language.  This was thought to be a private conversation, but it was taped and the tape ‘leaked’.  The owner has been lambasted in the media and forced by the parent organization to give up rights to be in the same geographic area as the team, and to renounce team ownership.
  • another team player ‘came out of the closet’.  A different player tweeted some disparaging comments about the newly outed player and has been called to account.  He has apologized, and penalties are being applied.
  • a couple of players have publicly displayed their religious views (one by openly praying before games) and both have been harshly criticized for being so open with their beliefs.  It’s interesting to note that the religion in question is Christianity.

I know there have been many other such incidents – after all, many professional sports players are recruited out of high school, and haven’t finished college, and based on their status have money and fame thrust upon them.  This unfortunately means in some cases they haven’t been properly educated in ethics, etiquette or how to interact properly in the public arena.  They are as rock stars or kid TV stars turned adult.

And they have the rights to their opinions and their religions, even if we might disagree with them!

Of course, in this New World Order of political correctness, we’re not allowed to think that way.  I understand the player who made disparaging remarks is being sent to mandatory sensitivity training!

Returned for Re-Grooving, indeed!

Their first album, “Waiting for the Electrician or Someone like Him” (1968) includes a satirical tale of the future based on the values of the psychedelic sixties. In particular, there is one track involving two police officers of the future traveling together in their patrol car. As part of their duties, they have to check to see if all of the citizens are “groovy.” If a citizen looks suspicious, the police would stop them, ask them some pointed questions to determine their grooviness, what drugs they were carrying, as well as to check their clothing and body paint. If the citizen wasn’t compliant, he/she would be “taken away for regrooving” which meant a massive reorientation to bring them up to date with the times. (from Tim Bryce’s blog, musing on the Firesign Theatre)

Yeah, not so much…

Just In Time For The Election!

(OKAY, the election AFTER that!)

Now that we’re focused on BENGHAZI, and keeping (the do-nothing and dangerous) Senator Secretary of State Bill Clinton’s wife-in-name-only from becoming President, remember…

No one fired over Fast and Furious

According to the ATF Director, no one was fired over Fast and Furious.

An Inspector General investigating the matter also found that allowing one employee to take accumulated leave prior to retirement while working full time for private company violated ATF policy… but no mention was made of any punishment for the violation.

The Justice Department is still withholding documents:

Though the failed operation has been out of the news for some time, Congress is still pressing the Justice Department to release documents on the matter. In a bipartisan vote in 2012, 17 Democrats joined House Republicans to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. President Barack Obama even invoked executive privilege in the course of the investigation. The matter is being fought in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Take a close look at that. The House held Holder, still the sitting Attorney General, in contempt of Congress in 2012. The matter was taken to court around the same time. It is now 2014, two years later. Holder has announced retirement plans. An election approaches. And the Justice Department is still withholding documents.

I have no doubt that Obama will manage to destroy anything incriminating on his way out of office, and none of the criminals in his administration will be brought to justice.

And, of course, there’s what’s-her-name having been FIRED from the Watergate Committee due to being self-serving and lacking ethics.  And Whitewater, Vince Foster, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

But it’s important to elect a WOMAN because they all think alike and…George Bush!

Remember, they are all part of the same team whose goal it is to fundamentally transform the United States into something NOT Constitutional.  And they have had successes.

I know, I’m largely preaching to the choir, here.

David Hardy Makes Me Sad, Again…

…for showing me how f***ed-up the public schools are!

A student tries bullying another, isn’t successful, so he tries another tack. When the other student is twirling a pencil, the bully calls out, “He’s making gun motions, send him to juvie.” The school obliges, the bullied student gets suspended, has to take a psych evaluation, and blood tests for drugs. No word if they did anything to the bully.

Political correctness and zero-tolerance mandatory sentencing reigns!  And non-thinking, hoplophobic school administrators!

Maroons!

“Police Your Brass, And Move Off The Line!”

I fondly remember Col. Cooper telling the story of the grunts in the movie theater, watching some movie wherein a woman produces a semiautomatic and fills some guy with lead.  A guy in the crowd yells, “Okay Lady, police your brass and move off the line!”, to the knowing roar of the crowd.

Policing brass.  The curse of the responsible (and green) shooter.  Many times over the years for me, it meant bending over in the desert picking dusty brass out of the dirt, cactus and gravel, and putting it back into the boxes from whence it came.  Or a Ziplock, or a plastic grocery bag.  Or a jeans pocket.  To be sorted and cleaned later.  Maybe.

I’m disabled.  I’ve a fused right hip (amongst other infirmities).  This makes policing brass problematic at best.  But, when I can, I do it.

Unlike so many others who lay waste to the desert with non-biodegradable target materials and spent brass!

Now comes…

Ammo-Up

Reportedly works well on concrete, desert floors not-so-much…

Did you know that the number of Americans getting benefits from the federal government each month exceeds the number of full-time workers in the private sector by more than 60 million?  In other words, the number of people that are taking money out of the system is far greater than the number of people that are putting money into the system.  And did you know that nearly 70 percent of all of the money that the federal government spends goes toward entitlement and welfare programs?  When it comes to the transfer of wealth, nobody does it on a grander scale than the U.S. government.  Most of what the government does involves taking money from some people and giving it to other people.  In fact, at this point that is the primary function of the federal government.

Just check out the chart below.  It comes from the Heritage Foundation, and it shows that 69 percent of all federal money is spent either on entitlements or on welfare programs…

So when people tell you that the main reason why we are being taxed into oblivion is so that we can “build roads” and provide “public services”, they are lying to you.  The main reason why the government taxes you so much is so that they can take your money and give it to someone else.

(income redistribution – who knew? – Guffaw)

We have become a nation that is completely and totally addicted to government money.  The following are 18 stats that prove that government dependence has reached epidemic levels…

Of course, this is what the Fabian Socialist, Utopian, Communist, Socialist, Progressives have wanted all along.  Collapse the system from within; a fundamental transformation if you will…

AH! The Magic Government Dust!

Once again, Borepatch brings it…

Deputy shoots man’s dog. Deputy gets fired.

But none of the news organizations will print the Deputy’s name:

A Rains County, TX sheriff’s deputy accused of shooting and killing a farmer’s dog for no reason has been fired, officials with the county sheriff’s office confirmed Thursday.

The deputy argued that the dog, Candy, threatened his safety.

Candy’s owner, Cole Middleton, is a third generation dairy farmer. After Candy died, Middleton began a campaign on Facebook that is getting national attention and said she was killed for no good reason.

You know, I expect that if I shot sumd00d’s dog like that, they’d print my name.  Ah, but the Deputy had been sprinkled with magic Government dust, and so was one of the Only Ones who can’t be named.  Because you wouldn’t want the poor dear to not be able to get another Po-Po job where he can shoot up some more pets, right?

Via Claire.

YEP.  The same Fourth Estate that keeps clamoring to print the names of law-abiding concealed weapon permit holder for the public’s safety won’t print the name of an animal killer.

I don’t know about you, but I like consistency and ethics in my media.  How about YOU?

All The News Made-Up To Print…

jibBy now most of you have probably heard the story of a Texas Open Carry incident involving long guns in a Jack-in-the-Box that reportedly came with an “enthusiastic” police response. It turns out the fact that employees were terrified and hid in the freezer appears to be a lie by the Bloomberg gun control organization, but a lie can often get around the world before The Truth has a chance to get its pants on. (This goes double when you have an unquestioning media that likes a good story and is institutionally hostile to civilian gun ownership and the Second Amendment.)

The actions of this local group have apparently caused a rift in the movement

(c/o Sebastian)

Gee, leftist, statist, rights-control freaks LIE to the media and the folks to push a political control agenda?

Can you say global warming climate change (there’s a new third permutation I forget) , and pretty much anything else they want?

NOT A ‘Hate’ Crime!

Not reported much, either…

The motorist, Steve Utash, was white. The mob, witnesses say, was made up of a dozen black men. A crowd of onlookers gathered while the mob beat Mr. Utash within an inch of his life. He was saved by Deborah Hughes, a black woman and a retired nurse who carries a .38. After attending to the child, who was not critically injured, Ms. Hughes lay across the body of Mr. Utash and promised herself that she would put a bullet in the next person to strike him.

Four adult men were bound over for trial this week and charged with intent to murder. A teenager has also been charged with ethnic intimidation. Mr. Utash spent nine days in a coma, and is now conscious and recovering in the hospital. (NYT)

Concurring with Clayton Cramer (from whom I gleaned the story) it wasn’t reported in much of the media.

WHY NOT?

You can bet if the participants racial makeup had been reversed, it would be all over the place!  We’re seeing much the same thing with attacks on Muslims, gays, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.  Victimhood of the oppressed!  And ignoring if they are the oppressors…

Guess that makes me racist…

"Round up the usual suspects."
