I Must Post Regarding The French Terrorist Attacks

france+flagI really didn’t want to, but am compelled.

First and foremost – My thoughts and prayers go out to the innocents who were killed; their friends and family who survive them.

Second – as my dear friend Tomi the Art Historian posted:  Aux armes, citoyens!

Sadly, I fear the French will not follow her recommendation.  The French (and most of Europe) have followed America’s politically-correct example, and in the name of humanitarianism have opened their borders to the armies of refugees pouring in from The Middle East.

Many of whom appear to be young men of military age, unaccompanied by wives and children.

Sacre’ Bleu!

The amazing thing is that while we are preparing to open our borders even further, we’ve only had mostly little onesie and twosie terrorist attacks.  Nothing of the scale of yesterday’s attacks in France.

And I must ask:  WHY?

Certainly, we have more FREEDOM than the French?  Perhaps the attacks were more about geographic location and convenience than freedom?

OH!  I know!  The French have very restrictive gun control laws.  The civilians largely do not have the means, or the rights, to respond to violence as we do here in much of The United States!

And terrorists are largely cowards, who talk big behind their ski-masks about dying to meet 72 virgins, but in real life don’t want a violent response.

They want victims, not combatants.

So, I fear France will remain largely naked against the terror threat.  And the attacks will continue.

There is a lesson in this United States!  Are you listening?

Don’t let the government further disarm you!  Lest we become as Europe.

  1. I think the French are going to loose the dogs of war in the form of the FFL… And I think the rose colored glasses are gone now.

    • Perhaps. But will the French people lose more rights in the process?

    • I must disagree with you sir. On the contrary, these terrorists are anything but cowards. Don’t be misled by the fact that the American citizen has access to weapons and this is viewed a deterrent to terrorists. No it is not! Never will be. If anything it serves as a challenge. These guys want to kill us and bury our way of life at any cost, at any means, their modis operandi serves as the foundation for their very existence. Yes I agree that we have an advantage being armed but the terrorists operate under cover. Granted they will not engage us in a direct fire fight they know they will lose. Ask yourself why wear explosive vests, and summarily execute hostages? Because they know that ultimately they will die but the reason in which they depart this earth is of great value to them. Killing the non believers, the infidels, will assure you of your 72 virgins and die a martyr, that is their reward and they will try to achieve this goal using nothing more than a pure primal evil drive. Nothing more. Primitive and simple. Even if all of the people in that French stadium were armed do you think it would have made a difference?

  2. I will not disarm. Not gonna happen. They can confiscate my weapons, but I will never surrender them. And you know what they say about “two is one, and one is none”? “Several” is even better. Just don’t keep ’em all in one place, knowwhutImean?

  3. I agree with your premise, but I have to somewhat disagree that they’re cowards. They do, after all, undertake missions that will almost certainly end in their deaths. The good guys with guns always come, sooner or later. And when they come, they are highly pissed.
They want high body counts because, in Lenin’s words, “The purpose of terror is to terrorize.” The more (and more innocent) the victims, the more the world audience is shocked. (The politics of the deed.) And the way to get a high body count is to hit a soft target.
And keep in mind the theory of modern terrorism. It was put forth in a 1967 book called The Urban Guerrilla, written by an Argentinian communist named Carlos Marighella. The goal of modern terrorism is not to overthrow a government, but to frighten the government into becoming so oppressive that the people overthrow it on their own.
(Of course, they may actually be cowards. They may prefer death to a 13th-century life without pulled pork barbecue sandwiches, Labrador retrievers, toilet paper, or strippers. And who could really blame them?)

    • Soft targets are the rule. They never seem to attack FFL or US Marines now do they? Seems if their ultimate goal is to die, that would solve the problem(?)

      • The ultimate goal may be to die, but it’s also to take as many innocent people with them. If they were to attack, say, a Marine base, not only would they not get the high body count, but many people in their audience, i.e., the world, would say, “The Marines knew that could happen when they signed up.” In other words, the goal of terrorizing would not be met. Killing theatergoers or school kids is what terrorizes.
I hate to sound pedantic, but I don’t want anyone to underestimate the enemy by calling them cowards. And we shouldn’t get too complacent because we have gun rights. When they do hit here, they will hit a gun-free zone like a school or a theater. Evil does not equal stupid.

      • “Evil does not equal stupid.”
        Good points all.

  4. Even if in the craziness of the moment the bad guy isn’t hit an armed citizen returning fire is a distraction from the focus of systematic killing. And that alone could save lives. If he’s ducking he’s not executing.

  5. Oopsie. That should read, “. . . to take as many innocent people with them as they can.”
    I’m not properly caffeinated yet.
