(Henry Rodgers, Daily Caller News Foundation) CNN published a story Wednesday calling “ordinary” supporters of President Donald Trump white supremacists and blaming them for the violence that occurred in Charlottesville, Va.

“‘White supremacists by default‘: How ordinary people made Charlottesville possible,” CNN blamed Trump voters of helping advance white supremacy, saying the non-racist, “ordinary” Trump voters are giving white supremacists room to operate and are the reason violence erupted in Charlottesville.
“It’s easy to focus on the angry white men in paramilitary gear who looked like they were mobilizing for a race war in the Virginia college town. But it’s the ordinary people — the voters who elected a reality TV star with a record of making racially insensitive comments, the people who move out of the neighborhood when people of color move in, the family members who ignore a relative’s anti-Semitism — who give these type of men room to operate,” CNN’s John Blake wrote, crediting one other professor and “others” for contributing to the story.
You know I’m not a big fan of the President. I am also not a fan of ad hominem attacks (even though in my catagories and tags, I refer to the subject of this article as idiots. 😛 )
But painting everyone who supported the President with such a broad brush is ridiculous! And just wrong. Every Trump supporter I know is not a White supremacist, just as every Hillary supporter I know is not a communist.
And this is not the first time they have crossed the line!
I’m thinking of no longer watching them, or relying on them for ‘honest’ reporting.
(Oh, wait – I did that years ago!)
CNN has always swung that way (Clinton News Network, anyone? Bueller?). We have refused to watch them since forever, it seems, and even their tight grip on airport & bar monitors is slipping. Every once in awhile, we find someone showing Fox News or even a sports channel. Since the sound is usually off, it’s easy to ignore – and when it’s not, we change seats in the lounge. Now that they’ve gone full potato, along with almost every other network, we just don’t watch much at all. I’ve been thinking perhaps we’ll stop watching news altogether. If anything important happens, the sound of gunfire will provide a heads-up, right?
Yikes!
You may be right?
I cannot watch ANY news shows any more, it seems, or my blood pressure goes way up. Gave up on CNN years ago. Kinda sad, because when we lived overseas 21 years ago, they were a go-to source.
Yeah. How they acquired such (initial) gravitas is beyond me. Now that Fox is shown to be flawed, I pretty much rely on the Internet, which is it’s own brand of scary!
Gave up watching “clinton/crooked/caliphate/charade/counterfeit/communist/caballed/comedy/clown/censored/crank/corrupt/cuckold nitwit network (cnn)” during the billy cliton years, but my cable company won’t let me drop it from my lineup. So I’m still supporting them every month, because my wife and my kids watch other cable shows. It should be illegal not to able to decide which networks you pay for, and there should be no up charge for this a-la-cart-cable.
Interesting idea!
My DH said something the other day about Amazon offering an a la carte channel option. Don’t know any details, just heard him mention it to someone else.
Might be worth looking into?
I’m not surprised… They are pushing the agenda as hard as they can, and his being black ‘insulates’ him from any pushback in the PC world they live in…
