SOME of us got what we asked for.
Originally, I was gong to post regarding the last administrations’ ‘accomplishments’ – Benghazi, Fast & Furious, Uranium to the Russians, The Iranian bribe, continuing Gitmo, continuing massive unwarranted surveillance on American citizens, Executive Orders in excess, medical insurance taxes, golf games, ongoing wars, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
Then, it occurred to me I would be going backward.
What about the future?
Will DJT lessen the intrusions, black sites, unwarranted searches, etc.
I kinda doubt it.
Will patriotism be increased? Perhaps? Prosperity? Maybe. Crony capitalism? Perhaps, or it might remain the same as under the last administration.
Will the progressives fight tooth-and nail to keep all the socialist agendas they fought for the past eight years?
Will Gun Rights improve? Maybe.
I’m taking a wait and see attitude – applauding those things with which I agree, and condemning those I don’t.
Hopefully, there will be much more applause this term than the last two!
God Bless The United States of America!
Yes, Mr. Trump has a permit.
Yes, he supports the RKBA agenda (at least now where he sees his bread is buttered!)
BUT, a National Carry Permit?
Alan Korwin (the uninvited ombudsman, author of Page Nine and many gun law books) presents the argument:
The last thing you ever want is to have the federal government issuing national — or any — firearm carry permits.
The feds do not have this power. The feds should never have this power.
Your right to have a firearm anywhere in America should never depend on getting “papers” from any government, much less the federal powers in Washington, D.C.
If you have a gun — constitutionally protected private property — and you aren’t doing anything inherently wrong, that should never be a crime. There is no victim. No one is harmed. No actual crime is committed. The idea that you need a wallet card to be somewhere you have a legal right to be is preposterous.
Too many gun owners, including some leaders of the gun-rights movement, sincere but totally misinformed and misdirected, are salivating for our permit-carrying president elect to issue some sort of national carry plan. It cannot, must not, better not be a national permit in any way shape or form.
Over 20% of these United States have enacted ‘Constitutional Carry’, that is law-abiding citizens may carry firearms without the need for permitage.
Is there blood running in the streets in these States? No, in fact crime is down.
Let’s cut to the chase, instead of pushing for more federal control and bureaucracy, let’s make The United States ALL Constitutional Carry!
Simplicity. And less federal intrusion. What a concept!
I’ve oft written here (or
copied stolen other’s writings) regarding the substitute of ‘science’-with-an-agenda attached, versus pure science.
And, it seems to have happened, yet again!
First, DDT was BAD. It must be banned.
Then, the World was getting colder. The NEW Ice Age was upon us.
Followed by The Ozone Layer was being eaten away by hydrocarbons.
More recently, the World is getting WARMER. No WAIT! Weather is changing!
Now, we are losing BEE populations at an alarming rate! It’s the evil pesticides and GMOs, again! Ban stuff!
Of course, most of us are not scientists, and trust those who are to evaluate evidence without concern for the outcome, to give us a possible solution.
And governments world-wide jump on the band wagon to take control of the ‘problem’, even if it doesn’t exist!
Turns out DDT does remain present, but doesn’t seem to be harmful in the long run. Too bad, it’s banned!
The New Ice Age didn’t happen.
The hole in the ozone closed. Another crisis avoided apparently in a natural cycle. Of course, many chemicals were banned, regardless.
Climate Change? Yep, it happens. But unless scientists skew their results to fit a socialist agenda, humanity appears to not be responsible.
Regarding THE BEES:
I do find it interesting that every environmental ‘crisis’ comes now with an attached (socialist/world-wide) solution.
It’s for the children, ya know!
I’ve an addictive personality. I come by this honestly, as both my parents were also afflicted. It killed them both.
Before you get all worried, I’m not addicted to tobacco, as my Mother was. My Father liked his cigars and his alcohol.
And his excess food.
The S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) – too many refined carbs, too much protein, too much white sugar.
I, too, like food. Sometimes to excess. Including sugar.
And, I’ve been diabetic since 2002.
The Good Rev. Paul posted recently regarding Krispy Kreme Donuts. Now, I
like LOVES me a good doughnut! The problem is unlike normal folks, stopping at one, for me, can be difficult. And here in college/commuter town USA, we are surrounded by doughnut shops! The ubiquitous Dunkin’, Krispy Kreme, and many local emporia.
SO…I must make the choice. And sometimes I partake.
Fortunately, it’s not too often, and not a dozen-at-a-time.
I’m reminded of a cartoon, long ago in Playboy. (Buck Brown? Gahan Wilson? Which I was unable to locate it on the ‘Net)
An older couple in their rocking chairs, on their front porch. Both are quite obese. And they are chowing-down. Between them is a large bucket of fried chicken. Just visible, to the side of the house, is a square, striped building(!?)
And one says to the other, “Sometimes, I wish they hadn’t moved in next door…”
Today, give me strength.
Thankfully, the nearest are at least a mile away, and I’ve no funds. And, it’s ‘cold’ out (40° – sorry, Rev. Paul!)
Peter, aka Bayou Renaissance Man addresses this ongoing sticky issue. Included in his post are things from Zero Hedge showing incriminating campaign behaviors (from Wikileaks) in my home State of Arizona (which polls indicate is up for grabs between Blue and Red camps)
I’m sure that by now, most of my readers have learned about the incriminating e-mail sent by the Clinton campaign as long ago as 2008, and just revealed by Wikileaks. In case you missed it, here’s the salient excerpt.
I also want to get your Atlas folks to recommend oversamples for our polling before we start in February. By market, regions, etc. I want to get this all compiled into one set of recommendations so we can maximize what we get out of our media polling.
There’s more at the link.
Zero Hedge points out:
The email even includes a handy, 37-page guide with the following poll-rigging recommendations. In Arizona, over sampling of Hispanics and Native Americans is highly recommended:
Research, microtargeting & polling projects
- Use Spanish language interviewing (Monolingual Spanish-speaking voters are among the lowest turnout Democratic targets)
- Over-sample the Native American population
For Florida, the report recommends “consistently monitoring” samples to makes sure they’re “not too old” and “has enough African American and Hispanic voters.” Meanwhile, “independent” voters in Tampa and Orlando are apparently more dem friendly so the report suggests filling up independent quotas in those cities first.
- Consistently monitor the sample to ensure it is not too old, and that it has enough African American and Hispanic voters to reflect the state.
- On Independents: Tampa and Orlando are better persuasion targets than north or south Florida (check your polls before concluding this). If there are budget questions or oversamples, make sure that Tampa and Orlando are included first.
Meanwhile, it’s suggested that national polls over sample “key districts / regions” and “ethnic” groups “as needed.”
- General election benchmark, 800 sample, with potential over samples in key districts/regions
- Benchmark polling in targeted races, with ethnic over samples as needed
- Targeting tracking polls in key races, with ethnic over samples as needed
Again, more at the link.
This absolutely confirms the recent revelation that the Clinton campaign was up to shady tricks (to put it mildly) in major media polling of potential voters. They’ve been doing it for years – don’t forget that the e-mail quoted above dates back to 2008!
It also explains recent triumphalist claims by the Clinton Campaign, for example: ‘Hillary Clinton is so far ahead of Donald Trump in the race for the presidency that she no longer even feels the need to pay attention to the Republican nominee.‘ As is now clear, she’s mainly ahead in polls that have been deliberately skewed in this way, so as to portray her as so far ahead that the election is effectively a ‘done deal’. I suppose that’s to try to persuade potential Trump and Republican voters not to bother to cast their vote, as there won’t be any point. Instead, they should stay home on election day and let events take their presumably inevitable course.
Thing is, of course, they’re not inevitable. Other polls (for example, this one) portray the race as much, much closer. All of us have a voice, and every voice (and every vote) counts. It’s up to us to use them.
No, this is NOT a heretofore undiscovered John D. MacDonald Travis McGee novel!
A Clinton campaign email released as part of the Wikileaks data dump earlier today talks about the need to maintain political power by producing “an unaware and compliant citizenry”.
The email was sent to Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta by former Clinton administration official Bill Ivey on March 13, 2016.
Yeah, THAT’S the only way Secretary Clinton can maintain political power! Unawareness and compliance.
Because, if she had illicit power, the aware and uncompliant would take it from her!
Days of our Trailers (or as I lovingly refer to them – DOOT) posted recently regarding the hoops some guy had to go through to get a gun in his jurisdiction. (Spoiler Alert – he received one and should not have!)
Guy who makes lots of mistakes in his youth turns his life around and goes straight. Family, honest employment helping people, the works.
But he makes several other mistakes. Big ones.
He changed his name to make things easier to move on, get a good job, not get labelled. Fair enough. But under his new name he is still a prohibited person…. and he went and got a gun.
How, you ask, can he do this with all of the licensing and background checks in place?
Easy… The system screwed up…. again and again.
Background check #1: FOID card. Mandatory for any purchase/possession of a firearm or ammo in the state. 30+ days for the state to conduct a background check. Falsifying information on the application is a class 2 Felony. (question 2)
Background check #2: Firearm purchase. NICS w/ the form 4473. State mandated 72 hr waiting period for handguns. Falsifying information on the form is a felony (question 11c) (assuming he purchased the weapon legally that is)
Background check #3: CCW. 90 days for background check w/ fingerprints, 120 days w/o fingerprints. 3-4 months for a simple court records search.
Him merely having the gun was a felony under any circumstance.
So two or three extended time background checks and waiting periods all failed.
But lets do it again… only harder.
Because, it’s all about CONTROL!
Much has been written in these pages and on the Internet regarding George Soros, who unabashedly seems most interested in destroying Western Civilization.
The fact that so many of his fellow travelers and sycophants happily climb on board the train of destruction unnerves me. especially as so many of them were educated in The United States!
From Brock Townsend
George Soros should scare the hell out of anybody with a lick of sense.
Born a Hungarian Jew, his first job was working for the Nazis in World War II, helping to confiscate the property of Jews who were being rounded up, a job he not only never expressed any regret for, but that he described as one of the finest times of his life.
He has described himself, and the power he has as a billionaire, as being like a mad god.
“Next to my fantasies about being God, I also have very strong fantasies of being mad,” Soros said in an interview on British television.
And he certainly has considerable power to back up his fantasies, including the power to make the video clip of his famous 60 Minutes interview, or leaked documents from his Open Society Foundations, virtually disappear from the Internet.
Among the documents that were downloaded by various news outlets before they vanished, there are numerous eye-openers that clarify exactly how deep Soros’ various schemes go, and paint a picture of a man who can manipulate markets, order around governments and arrange coups wherever he likes.
Soros comes about as close to a comic book supervillain as you can get in real life. Honestly, he could give Lex Luthor or Doctor Doom a run for their money.
Among the revelations found so far in the Soros documents:
More @ Constitution
The fact that so many ‘young people’ (and their elders) have their minds manipulated by this clown, whilst their thoughts are buried in comic books and comicons, and superhero movies – and they are well into their 20’s! greatly concerns me.
Of course, that was probably part of the plan all along…
My dear friend Borepatch posts:
The headline reads “Homeland Security to Take Charge of Election.” My first thought was, well, sure, they did such a great job at the airports, why not?
There’s certainly security issues with the elections, clear problems with unauthorized voting, tallies that make no sense, and the possibility that the outcome in a state could be compromised by computer.
Consolidating the election into a singe system means a single point of failure. You could easily have multiple, overlapping intrusions skewing the results and those intrusion could come from both internal and external actors.
“Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.”— Josef Stalin
An administration rife with corruption, political double-dealing, and outright crime, criminals (and communists) decides without input from the People or the States that they are to oversee the election.
What could possibly go wrong?
This seems to be something inherent in humanity.
When a crisis occurs, we
want need to do SOMETHING! ANYTHING!
Even though so much of our lives is out of our control…
“There must be something we can do?” (After someone had passed, to comfort the survivors) “If there’s anything I can do?”
And, of course, after tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, or riots, or a mass shooting (or stabbing, as recently in Sacramento)…
We must do SOMETHING!
It makes we, as humans, feel better about our powerlessness.
“I KNOW! Let’s pass another LAW!”
When did we become so disconnected from how things work that we think ‘the government’ passing yet another law (which are selectively enforced, if at all, anyway) will solve any problems?
Bank robbery is already illegal. Let’s make it even more illegal by passing laws restricting the kinds of firearms the robbers might steal to use!
“Double-secret probation!” – Dean Wormer (Animal House)
I have an idea.
First, lets undo the glut of useless, poorly-written laws clogging up the books since the first gun control (prohibiting freed slaves from owning firearms) was passed in 1809.
Let’s let people protect themselves and others from those who would threaten harm.
As we used to
Protecting our families with hope while evil has guns is not protecting our families. We are in a gun fight and some do not want to give us a fighting chance.
1973, a student and teacher guarding a Delaware high school after someone called in a shooting threat during a morning class. Juniors, seniors, and teachers went to their cars and trucks to grab their guns, and guard the doors between classes. No shooter ever arrived. (from FB)
And how about school districts hiring honorably-discharged veterans (with security skills) as school security? Jobs for vets, and schools more secure.
