Government ‘In Action’, Again

(from Wirecutter)

The IRS is struggling to ensure that illegal immigrants are able to illegally use Social Security numbers for legitimate purposes, the agency’s head told senators on Tuesday, without allowing the numbers to be used for “bad” reasons.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen made the statement in response to a question from Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., during a session of the Senate Finance Committee about why the IRS appears to be collaborating with taxpayers who file tax returns using fraudulent information. Coats said that his staff had discovered the practice after looking into agency procedures.

“What we learned is that … the IRS continues to process tax returns with false W-2 information and issue refunds as if they were routine tax returns, and say that’s not really our job,” Coats said. “We also learned the IRS ignores notifications from the Social Security Administration that a name does not match a Social Security number, and you use your own system to determine whether a number is valid.”

SERIOUSLY?

Well, this explains how someone using a dead Connecticut guys SSN could advance in politics all these years.

REALLY advance…

Coming Soon To A Police Radio Near You…

Swedish police will no longer be able to give descriptions of alleged criminals for fear of being seen as racist.

According to an internal letter, police in capital city Stockholm are instructed to refrain from describing suspects’ race and nationality, according to news website Speisa.

Local newspaper Svenska Dagbadet reported it had seen the letter, which it said outlined how officers should now notify the public of crimes.

Of course, this is concurrent with the massive influx of rapist, terrorist refugees from Syria and other Arab countries.
Oops, sorry, I’m not supossed to mention that!

SERIOUSLY? Part III

My friend Borepatch alerted us to the following:

Spy On Me Barbie®

What could possibly go wrong?

A new “smart” Barbie doll’s eavesdropping and data-gathering functions have privacy advocates crying foul.

Toymaker Mattel bills Hello Barbie as the world’s first “interactive doll” due to its ability to record children’s playtime conversations and even respond once the encrypted audio is transmitted to a cloud server, much in the way that Apple’s Siri voice assistant works.

No word on whether Mattel plans to share suspected Double Plus Ungood Thoughtcrime with Big Brother.

No doubt the software has had extensive security review to make sure it’s not hackable. (snark font!)

SERIOUSLY?
We already have ‘them’ prying into our computer use, email, what we purchase, our jobs, what we watch, how we look when we watch(!), our spending, our gun purchases, and now a toy (that could be a tool) to spy on our children?
I wonder if the little brothers of girls receiving such a gift will nip this in the bud by deftly removing Barbie’s head, as he did with all the others?
Or is the microphone in her torso?
And is GI JOE next?

EMCON

Rivrdog (of Nom de plume:  Rivrdoghas been blogging for 10 years!  10 years!  Remarkable.

Based on his most recent comments, he’s seriously considering going EMCON.  That is ‘radio silent’.

Now we are in the Obama Regime, and we have solid proof that extensive systems exist for the purpose of spying on US Citizens. I am likely on one or more lists of dissidents to be rounded up when “that day” comes, if it ever does. That doesn’t bother me as much as it might others, because I have a plan for that day. It DOES bother me that my few regular readers might suffer the same fate though, and I have been wrestling with this thought for several weeks.

Another thought I have had is to declare EMCON. Under that condition, I would presume that hostilities with the Government are imminent (or that they have already begun), not just possible or probable. If I go to EMCON, all my social media (including this blog) goes dark. I would advise all readers to give serious thought to what it would take for YOU to declare your personal EMCON. Analyze how you will make that determination. EMCON would likely be followed by mustering of Militia. Also give some thought to how you would respond to a Militia call-up.

THINK on it.

So, dear readers, is this simply hyperbole of some whacko, paranoid, over-the-hill blogger?  Or is there more here?

I was just discussing with ( name redacted  ) the other day about the Fall of the Roman Empire.  I’m certain they never saw it coming, either.  And, even with the 24 hour news cycle and ‘instant’ Internet connectivity, the question becomes will we?

The Romans thought they’d live as a culture for millennia.  So did Hitler.  The United States is one of the youngest countries in existence.  And she is a Grand Experiment.

And she appears to be failing.

Our Tax Dollars At Work

food stampsWorld Net Daily reports on the findings of Judicial Watch with regard to the federal government promoting tax-payer-funded benefits to potential illegal aliens foreigners.

To wit:

Judicial Watch, the Washington watchdog which is known for tracking down and trying to stamp out government corruption, has issued a report revealing that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is working with the Mexican government to promote the U.S. food stamp program to illegal aliens.

The report said the program, called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, features a Spanish-language flyer supplied to the Mexican Embassy by the USDA “with a statement advising Mexicans in the U.S. that they do not need to declare their immigration status in order to receive financial assistance.”

As if we don’t already have enough trouble with illegal immigration and the ‘budget’ federal spending!

The report continues…

… that taxpayer money was used to run Spanish-language television ads “encouraging illegal immigrants to apply for government-financed food stamps. The Mexican Consul in Santa Ana, Calif., at the time even starred in some of the U.S. government-financed television commercials, which explained the program and provided a phone number to apply. In the widely viewed commercial the consul assured that receiving food stamps ‘won’t affect your immigration status.’”
