Governor in U.S. Virgin Islands Orders Gun & Ammo Confiscation

(from Liberty Headlines)

(WND) A hurricane is on the way, and preparations always include boarding up windows, stocking up on food, water and batteries, and sometimes fleeing inland.
A governor in one U.S. territory, however, has another plan: Grab all the guns.
According to the Daily Caller, the governor of the Virgin Islands, a U.S. territory, has signed an order to that effect.

The order explains that Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp authorized the territory’s adjutant general “to mobilize such units of the National Guard as are necessary to maintain or restore public order, and to guarantee the safety of life and property,” as Hurricane Irma approaches from the Atlantic.

The adjutant general, he said, “is authorized and directed to seize arms, ammunition, explosives, incendiary material and any other property that may be required by the military forces for the performance of this emergency mission, in accordance with the Rules of Force promulgated by the Virgin Islands National Guard and approved by the Virgin Islands Department of Justice.”

Irma was reported on Tuesday to be a Category 5 hurricane, with winds up to 175 miles her hour, and the eye is expected to pass just north of the heart of the islands on Wednesday.
The Daily Caller said Mapp signed the order Monday.
He warned, “This is not an opportunity to go outside and try to have fun with a hurricane.

“It’s not time to get on a surfboard,” he continued.

The gun seizure order technically also allows authorities to take control of “any other property.”

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselo and Florida Gov. Rick Scott also declared states of emergencies in anticipation of Irma. But they did not include the gun confiscation authorization.

Mapp wrote that the order was issued under authority of Title 23, Chapter 19, Virgin Islands Code, and insisted it is necessary “to maintain the health, welfare, and safety of the people of the Virgin Islands.”

The adjutant general is given the right to “take whatever actions she considers necessary to carry out the assigned missions.”

The order provides for “payment for salaries, benefits, health insurance, worker’s compensation, necessary meals, fuel and other operational and administrative costs.”

But there was no mention of compensation to gun owners.

DON’T THESE CLOWNS REMEMBER KATRINA AND THE RESULT OF ILLEGAL GUN CONFISCATION THERE?

We Should Learn From WHO? France?!

France’s Death Spiral

  • In 1990, the “Gayssot law” was passed, stipulating that “any discrimination based on ethnicity, nation, race or religion is prohibited”. Since then, it has been used to criminalize any criticism of Arab and African delinquency, any question on immigration from the Muslim world, any negative analysis of Islam. Many writers have been fined and most “politically incorrect” books on those topics have disappeared from bookshops.
  • The French government asked the media to obey the “Gayssot law.” It also asked that history textbooks be rewritten to include chapters on the crimes committed by the West against Muslims, and on the “essential contribution” of Islam to humanity. All history textbooks are “Islamically correct.”
  • In hospitals, Muslims are increasingly asking to be treated only by Muslim doctors, and refusing to let their wives be treated by male doctors.

February 2, 2017: A “no-go zone” in the eastern suburbs of Paris. Police on patrol hear screams. They decide to check. While there, a young man insults them. They decide to arrest him. He hits them. A fight starts. He accuses a policeman of having raped him with a police baton. A police investigation quickly establishes that the young man was not raped. But it is too late; a toxic process has begun.

Political correctness is killing Europe, literally!
AND, it will kill the United States.

The Whole Cloth Of History

In an article entitled “Historic Preservation Still Unites Us” First Lady of Virginia Dorothy McAuliffe touts the worthiness of historic preservation: “May we Virginians, and all Americans, continue to enjoy history through preservation and never take for granted that its lessons are the guideposts to a better future.”

We could not agree more with this statement but recognize that in the Commonwealth of Virginia there exists a hypocritical double-standard regarding historic preservation. Confederate monuments and memorials are currently the lowest hanging fruit – ripe and easy targets for those who view history with tunnel vision. It should not be this way – we as Americans should protect our past instead of shunning it. Existing memorials in our public spaces should not be banished from their long-standing locations based on emotion and divisive politics. The poet John Donne famously wrote “no man is an island,” and these monuments are not islands either – they are connected to the communities in which they reside. And they tell a story, not just about the events and people they depict, but about those who commissioned and sculpted them to vivid life. If historic preservation matters, it should matter for all Registered Historic Landmarks, and not just those deemed “acceptable” by the powers that be.

The attorneys retained to fight Charlottesville City Council’s vote to remove the Robert E. Lee Monument from Lee Park are diligently preparing their case. Rest assured that they do not take this charge lightly and will proceed with filing at the precise and practicable moment.

The idea such actions to save historical monuments are even necessary is horrific!
First, I’m a believer in this Nation’s history, warts and all.
Second, didn’t the United States Congress pass legislation almost 100 years ago stating that ALL military participants in the Civil War (or the War Between the States, or the recent unpleasantness, if you prefer!) were VETERANS as such deserving of remembrance and monuments as much as the Union soldiers?
And that desecration or removal of military monuments was against federal law?

Confederate Soldiers are American Veterans by Act of Congress

Sadly, this is not the only location or action taken against Confederate monuments.  Politically correct forces are continuing to try to erase American History (and by extension free speech), lest the young learn about the whole cloth of history!
It’s disgusting!
Please help if you can.

Regarding Indiana’s’, Arkansas’ New Law(s)…

And Texas’ old one…

AND a federal one.

(and rather libertarian principles…)

I believe contracts between people (and corporations) should be voluntary in nature.

If your religion (or principles, or personal beliefs, or bigotry) coerce/convince you to not do business with someone because of their beliefs, or creed, or disability, or gender, or age, or sexual preference, et al, then, by all means, DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

(AHEM, however)

Be prepared to reap the attention of the Federal government.

Federal law already prohibits denial of goods or services due to a customer’s race, color, age, disability, or gender.  (Thank you President CLINTON!)  Why do States feel the need to rubber-stamp the federal law?

HOWEVER, I also believe, as they do in Texas, that businesses have to right to refuse service.  Period.  No explanation is necessary or required.

And THE MARKETPLACE will make the ultimate decision!

If a business excludes certain persons from engaging in contracts with them, then they will make less money.

More open businesses will prosper more.

Because there are more capitalists then there are bigots.

I’m certain there are more businesses ready, willing and able to do business with any customers brought to them by anyone with a wallet.

In Indiana, Arkansas, and Texas!

Imagine a world where government stays out of such things?

Why would I want to do business with someone who wishes to not do business with me?  Just to force my agenda on THEM?

A pizza place in Indiana closed because of protests by persons who didn’t like their refusal to cater a gay wedding.  Here’s a hint – go elsewhere!

And the pizza place received unsolicited contributions from  freedom-loving folks (to the tune of over $450,000!)

Sometimes, Wisdom Is Just Wise

Via my friend Borepatch:

I find it very hard to argue with this:

Leftism has not won these arguments, the Left has simply punished those who argue on the other side: and when I say ‘The Left’ I mean particularly Leftist intellectuals in the mass media, public administration, the education system, and bureaucracies generally.

What can be concluded?

Our society is far more corrupt than people realize – why wouldn’t it be? What’s to stop it? But just how corrupt it is impossible to know, even approximately, since any ‘evidence’ consists of lies built upon lies.

Our society is far less smart than people realize, because good arguments are punished and demonized so bad arguments (or no arguments at all, but merely faked moral outrage/ scapegoat hatred) wins vital arguments by default.

In sum, we live in a world ruled by dumb liars.

Asa I oft respond to another wise Internet blogger ( e.g. Rev. Paul)…

AMEN!

I’m NOT A Hipster

hipstersI’m so glad I’m not a hipster.  I pretended to be Joe Cool in college, but in reality was a crippled proto geek with oily skin and shorter-then-acceptable-as-a-hipster hair, and glasses.

It’s been suggested if only I changed my hair, my clothes, some of my beliefs (etc.) I’d be cooler.  I don’t care – I’m happy being who I am.

Never Yet Melted quoted what I think is the definitive comment on hipsterism.

In part…

Hipster economics are standard economics because hipsters are everything the US economy has ever wished for in one convenient package. It’s a group consisting largely of young, upper-middle class people with very little conviction, who will spend large amounts of money to maintain their own comfort and the appearance of diversity and rebellion. They are activists as long as it’s easy, poor as long as it doesn’t involve dirt or hunger, and selfless as long as they don’t stand to lose anything. They represent the sanitizing of national issues so that they can be discussed without being addressed. And all you have to do to control them is use some reverse psychology. They’re not rebels, they’re not even malicious, because they’re not anything except a bunch of kids playing pretend. They’ll eventually grow up and become bankers, lawyers and politicians, just like their parents…(Robert)

Again, I’m NOT a hipster…

Here We Go, AGAIN!

There is a piece of legislation making its way through both the House of Representatives and Senate that could have real implications for freedom of speech in the media and on the internet. On Wednesday, Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) introduced The Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014 (S.2219), which seeks “to examine the prevalence of hate crime and hate speech on the Internet, television, and radio to better address such crimes.” Meanwhile, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) introduced a companion bill in the House – H.R. 3878.

“This really bothers me a great deal. Senator Ed Markey and Representative Hakeem Jeffries… are taking their Hate Crimes Reporting Act and they’re trying to jam it through and get passage in both the House and the Senate. It’s happening simultaneously… Is that part of Cass Sunstein’s old stomping grounds? The information administration looking to analyze all media outlets including radio to determine if they are working to advocate and encourage hate crimes. This is good, huh?”

In a Wednesday press release, Sen. Markey a member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, explained why this legislation is particuraly important given the recent shooting in Kansas.

“We have recently seen in Kansas the deadly destruction and loss of life that hate speech can fuel in the United States,” Sen. Markey said, “which is why it is critical to ensure the Internet, television and radio are not encouraging hate crimes or hate speech that is not outside the protection of the First Amendment.”

Glenn happened to have a German radio from the Nazi era on his desk this morning, and he explained the great lengths taken by the Nazi government to ensure the German people only heard what they wanted them to hear.

“This [radio has] the German swastika on it, the German eagle is on it. This was an S.S. approved radio. It would only pick up the right radio stations, so you couldn’t tune into to the BBC or anything else. They just took those frequencies away,” Glenn explained. “I love the people who say the Nazis are extreme right. No, they’re not. The battle of World War II in Europe was communist versus Nazis – communists versus the national socialists… Both of them wanted world domination… Both of them were socialist… It’s the same group of guys.”

(excerpted from Glenn Beck)

YES, the recent shootings in Kansas were horrible.  REGARDLESS of the allegedly White supremacist’s choice of targets or his own political thoughts.

Remember when so-called ‘liberals’ championed the First Amendment rights of disgusting individuals like the Nazis who marched in largely-Jewish Skokie, Illinois?  Well, these same folks (and their political descendants) are now trying to remove the First Amendment rights of anyone with whom they disagree, for ‘our’ own good, under the guise of the ever popular PC term hate speech.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS HATE SPEECH IN A NATION WHICH ESPOUSES PROTECTIONS AS ENUMERATED IN THE FIRST AMENDMENT OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION!  PERIOD.

AND, USING IT AS AGGRAVATING LABEL FOR VIOLENT CRIME GIVES THE STATE THE METHOD IT NEEDS TO SUPPRESS NOT ONLY THE SPEECH OF DISGUSTING PERSONS WE ALL DON’T LIKE, BUT ALSO THOSE WITH WHOM WE AGREE, BUT ‘THE POWERS THAT BE’ DISAGREE’.

Don’t like President Obama’s policies or legislation?  Must be a racist.  Wait a minute – that’s hate speech!

Oh wait, it only works one direction…

"Round up the usual suspects."

In Loving Memory…
