Fun Fact!

Fun Fact Of The Day: Trump Received Twice As Many Muslim Votes Than Mitt Romney…

Via AOL:

Donald Trump doubled the Muslim Vote from Mitt Romney in 2012.

Despite campaign rhetoric some called, Islamophobic and calls for a complete ban on Muslim immigration to the U.S., an exit poll of 2,000 voters conducted by the Council for American Islamic Relations found that 13% of Muslim voters backed Trump.

That is double the Muslim vote that Republican Mitt Romney received in 2012. Hillary Clinton got 74% of the vote.

A spokesperson for CAIR said that while 15% of Muslims do identify as Republican.

“It might not necessarily have been as much a vote of confidence for Trump as an expression of no confidence in Clinton.”

(in part from Weasel Zippers)

Now, I’ve no idea if that last statement defines the results.

But, it could…

PS – I’d no idea AOL still existed!  😛

Alabama ACLU sues government, claiming pro-Muslim discrimination

Via Billy

Plaintiff Yvonne Allen is a devout Christian woman who covers her hair with a headscarf as part of her religious practice. In December 2015, Ms. Allen sought to renew her driver license at the Lee County driver license office, where officials demanded that she remove her head covering to be photographed. When Ms. Allen explained her religious beliefs, the County officials responded with a remarkable claim: They admitted that there was a religious accommodation available for head coverings, but contended that it applied only to Muslims.

The ACLU press release adds:

Lee County’s refusal to grant Allen a religious accommodation contradicts state rules and violates her rights under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the Alabama Constitution, according to the lawsuit.

“The county’s interpretation of state rules blatantly violates the First Amendment,” said Susan Watson, executive director of the ACLU of Alabama. “The government cannot discriminate between faiths in granting religious accommodations.”

Heather L. Weaver, senior staff attorney for the ACLU’s Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief, agreed. “The county’s policy is puzzling. There is absolutely no reason to restrict accommodations for religious headgear to certain religions. The Constitution protects both Christians and Muslims and, indeed, people of all faiths.

The World has indeed turned upside down.  Or, become The Bizarro World – depending on one’s point of reference.

Guffaw actually agreeing with the ACLU?!

Historically, an organization who has stood up for folks rights, even if they were ‘misunderstood’ folks – like Illinois Nazis.  But only stood up for the Second Amendment rights of folks if doing so suited another purpose.  Generally, the ACLU picks and chooses which rights and amendments to support.  And when.

I remember my father calling them THE AMERICAN COMMUNIST LAWYERS UNION!

Will wonders never cease?

Red Crossed-Up

(from Free North Carolina)

Apparently, that whole First Amendment, Freedom of Religion thing is kind of passé for some people at the Red Cross down in Lafayette, Louisiana. I mean, how else could you explain their decision to condemn a police officer for having the audacity to pray with flood victims in need of help?

This past week police officer Clay Higgins stopped by the local Red Cross shelter after work to see how he could be of service to the hurting people of his community. Higgins was still in uniform and carrying a Bible as he spoke and prayed with local residents. After a few minutes on scene he was approached by a Red Cross volunteer who told him that the Red Cross had taken issue with what he was doing and wanted him to leave.

“He said the Red Cross had an issue with me being there. So I asked him what the problem was. He looked down at my Bible and he gestured and said, ‘They have a problem with that.’”

Higgins then asked to see a supervisor, and that supervisor told him that he needed to leave their facility.

It’s been said there are no atheists is foxholes.  I suspect it is the same in the throes of a natural disaster.  AND, if one is an avowed atheist, holding to their beliefs during such an event, how is a groups of other-minded folks clinging to their beliefs offensive?
The fact is the American Red Cross is a private organization, loosely linked to the International Red Cross, and if both want to continue being supported by the charity of persons worldwide, they need to loosen up.
I THOUGHT I WAS DONE – THEN, I FOUND THIS @ VOX POPULI ...

Never donate to the Red Cross

I happen to know, from direct personal experience, that the Red Cross is entirely converged and totally corrupt, so it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest to hear that the Red Cross is refusing donations in Louisiana unless they can profit from them:

“So as we are headed back home from the River Center in Baton Rouge volunteering our nursing services Dawn and I have come to the conclusion that neither of us WILL EVER volunteer or donate to the RED CROSS. The Red Cross basically takes over the shelters and starts refusing clothes, donations and various volunteer services UNLESS they are previously contracted. So what does that mean….well, 60 boxes of doughnuts were discarded this morning becuase the delivery vendor was not in contract, hot meals were refused becuase the entity providing wasn’t contracted, and medical supplies including medications were trashed for same reason. Clothes that were “donated” needed to be left on the street unless they were “furnished” by Red Cross. As of tomorrow, the shelter we were at will be completely over taken by the Red Cross other than the medical area because they couldnt have the actual room since LSU has a contract with state to provide medical care. Its sad when the military police were helping to “protect” the medical areas from the red cross when there are so many other issues at hand. Anyway, next time to want to donate or volunteer your services, do your homework.”

Don’t ever donate to, or volunteer with, the Red Cross. They are fully SJW-converged and they have been for years. This is also why one should NEVER set up a non-profit. They are always quickly converged by the very people who have lots of time and are oh-so-eager to help.

I remember a friend telling me years ago that they were in a house fire.  The fire department responded, as did the The Red Cross – who gave them water and blankets.
Later that week, THEY RECEIVED A BILL FOR THE RED CROSS EFFORTS!
And, how sad is THAT?

When Is A Pope Not A Pope?

Pope Ditched Two Refugees Once He Found Out They Were Christians

Via David

https://www.jihadwatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Roula-and-Malek-Abo.jpg

One of the most appalling aspects of the current refugee crisis is that persecuted Christian across the Middle East are being completely ignored in favor of Muslim migrants. And when even the world’s most prominent Christian figurehead does nothing to help, but instead worships at the altar of multiculturalism and its “new world order,” what hope is there for Middle East Christians fleeing genocide?

A disturbing report claims that when Pope Francis found out that two of the 12 Muslim refugees he recently planned to take back to the Vatican turned out to be Christians, he “dropped them like a hot potato.”

Roula and Malek Abo, a Christian brother and sister duo who hail from Syria, say they have been “let down” by the Pope after left them behind at a Lesbos refugee camp. They were promised a new life in Italy. According to blogger Geoffrey Grider:

Holy Father, I’m confused?  You seem to be more socialist than Catholic, and now more Muslim?  Or, at least, more political?  (Not that other Pope’s haven’t been political…)
I’d make a list, but it would be REALLY long!
Perhaps, this was just about a photo op?
(Full Disclosure – I was baptized Catholic, but raised away from The Church, largely under the influence of my Presbyterian step-mother.  My Father pretended not to care, but was a Catholic in secret.  So, I’ve never been confirmed in The Church, and don’t follow the infallible Papacy as God’s Word.)
And then, there’s the whole ‘render unto Caesar’ thing…

New World Order?

YES, WE ARE ALMOST DONE.
JUST ONE ELECTION DECIDES OUR FATE….
ALMOST THERE

There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to
create a socialist/communist State.  The first is the most important.

5 OF THE 8 ARE DONE – THE LAST 3 ARE ALMOST THERE???

1.  Healthcare:  “Control Healthcare and you control the People.”  DONE!!!
2.  Poverty:  “Increase the Poverty level as high as possible.”  Poor
People are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing
everything for them to live.  DONE!!!
3.  Debt:  “Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level.”  That
way you are able to increase Taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.
DONE!!!
4.  Gun Control:  “Remove the ability to defend themselves from the
Government.”  That way you are able to create a Police State – total local
control.  ALMOST THERE!!!
5.  Welfare:  “Take control of every aspect of their lives” (Food, Livestock, Housing, and Income).  DONE!!!
6.  Education:  “Take control of what People read & listen to take control of what Children learn in School.”  ALMOST THERE!!!
7.  Religion “Remove faith in God from the Government and School.” ALMOST THERE!!!
8.  Class Warfare:  “Divide the People into the Wealthy against the Poor.
Racially divide.”  This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to Tax the Wealthy with full support of the voting Poor.  DONE!!!

The bases are all covered!  We are ripe for the New World Order.

I’ve no idea where this list originated.  I’ve seen similar lists for many years, even before the existence of the Internet.  Some purporting to be born of the Communist Party of the United States after WWI (?!)

Regardless, it does appear to be a suitable group of steps necessary for fundamental change from this Constitutional Republic to something progressing past it.

Fundamental change – where have I heard that before?

Putin On The Ritz

(I just flashed on Peter Boyle as The Monster, in a tux, tap-dancing in Young Frankenstein – sorry!)

This came my way, courtesy of Doc in Yuma, a kind and generous friend and reader of this humble blog…

On August 04, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:

“In Russia, live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim’s then we advise them to go to those places where that’s the state law.

Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell ‘discrimination’.

We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia.

The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims. When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims Minorities Are Not Russians.”

The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a five minute standing ovation.

If you keep this to yourself, you are part of the problem! SEND THIS ON!

It is a sad day when a (former) Communist leader (now an oligarch) makes more sense than our own elected leaders !!!!

I know it’s politically incorrect, but try substituting Americans for Russians in the above, and illegal aliens for Muslims.

It’s fine to remember and honor one’s ethnic and religious traditions upon arriving here, but remember, this is The United States.

E Pluribus Unum

(Word from a loyal commenter is Putin DID NOT say this!   It does sound like him, though…) 😆

AMEN, Sistuh!

Roberta X(from the lovely, talented, and geekily knowledgeable Roberta X, in part…)

(…)

Everyone running for the Democrat nomination wants to turn a large number of gun-owning citizens into some kind of Federal criminal, with the only question being, “felon or malefeasant?”  But only one of them has hands-on experience in the kind of police-state tactics it would take to make that work, and in making them palatable to a population of people who could reasonably be expected to be skeptical.

Meanwhile, most of GOP’s hot prospects are sellin’ various flavors of Return-to-Jesusland* and shippin’ out the Dangerously Brown (a difficult trick — y’know how there are so many guns in the U.S. that no power could ever grab ’em all?  Imagine if those guns had volition didn’t want to be found…).  I’ll grant that there are serious, good reasons — including humanitarian ones — for a more secure and better-patrolled border; it’s this business of plannin’ to comb through the population and root out a “dangerous element” often referred to as “parasitic” that stinks on ice to me — and it should to you, too.  Do you recall what kinds of societies had any success at that kind of thing?  Do you realize what it takes to make it work? (Ahem, “Papers, please?”)  Did you sleep through World History class?

This is one of the lousiest candidate pools I have ever seen. Mr. Bloomberg is the worst of them — worse than Mr. Sanders, worse than Mr. Trump.  If he enters the race, I may have to vote in the Democrat primary just so I can vote against him.

* Except this country never was. The American Revolution can be cast as a kind of dialogue between the Enlightenment/Age of Reason ideas that pushed it and the Great Awakenings that bookended it.  From that angle, the Establishment Clause of  First Amendment represents a brilliantly common goal: neither party was desirous of a State church.  Thus the United States was explicitly made a safe place for believers and nonbelievers of every stripe.  This is a delicate balance and has been maintained with varying degrees of elegance and civility though the years.  We should fear any politician who feels a mandate to Do Good — especially if he or she believes it was granted by Divine authority.

There’s really nothing further to say on this subject.

Standing On Principles

gayI like to think I have Principles

I like to think I stand on them, and admire those who do also.

Unless, of course, their principles are diametrically opposed to mine!

One would think that working as a county clerk, and gay marriage was upheld by The Supreme Court, and licensing gays violated my principles, that it would behoove me to look for employment elsewhere(?)

The same thing applies to pharmacists who dislike dispensing a ‘morning after’ pill to their customers.

Or going to work at the Walmart sporting goods department, and being told you must sell guns and ammunition.  And you are anti-gun.

This just in – an Islamic flight attendant is objecting to be required to serve her passengers alcohol!  (as if she didn’t know this going in!)

If working there and doing your assigned job violates your principles – QUIT!

There’s an old saw, emblazoned on many a sampler and kitschy poster, stating “When you work for a man, WORK for him!”

Perhaps the women in the news are hoping to become another cause celebre, and make it to the Supreme Court?

In another lifetime.

I’m certainly not pristine in holding to my principles.  I AM human.  I worked for a polygraph company (not as a polygrapher) and federal legislation was pending to severely restrict private polygraph pre-employment companies.  (It passed).  But the boss had us calling in on company time (we were getting paid to do this) in an effort to sway the Congress to not pass the bill.

And, having had some (not all) negative experiences with polygraphs, I privately supported the legislation.

But, I also needed a paycheck, so…

I chose getting a paycheck over standing on my principles.

I was laid-off six months later, regardless, I’m sure in part to the decreased company revenue.

I probably should have quit.

Martial Cultism

What is Martial Cultism?

It is the belief that your particular skill, machine, tool or system is better, even if evidence exists to the contrary.

We see snippets of this constantly in gun magazines, self-defense magazines and on-line bulletin boards.

  • .45 versus 9mm (or .38, .357 or .40)
  • semiautomatic versus revolver
  • taekwondo versus shotokan (or gung fu, muy tai, or the myriad other fighting styles)
  • shotgun versus rifle
  • Colt versus Smith & Wesson

ad infinitum, ad nauseum

KEADS posted a snippet of this on Facebook the other day.  Seems a student was lauding his Kimber to the exclusion of all others (?)  I asked if this was pre or post MIM parts?  ;-P

Reminiscent of the pre-64 Winchester Rifle discussions of my youth.

Or a high school discussion I had with a learned friend regarding European Medieval Swords versus Japanese Swords.  Or as he put it, The Cult of The Japanese Sword.

Recently both the U.S. Military and the FBI have endorsed converting to 9mm hollow points (from .40 S&W and .45 ACP), as the newer 9mm showed better stopping power. then the wider, heavier ammunition.

It appears as though a new cult has formed.

Frankly, I’d like to see the data.  If it’s inanimate, like gelatin, I’m not certain of their conclusion.

Separation Of Church And State

I don’t know what YOU believe, but, I believe this Constitutional Republic was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and values.

Not Muslim; not Hindu; not Jain.

I LIKE having ‘In God We Trust’ on our money.

So, it distresses me when something like THIS happens…

Army refuses to provide Honor Guard for church’s (1774) July 4th celebration

For nearly two decades, the U.S. Army has provided an honor guard for an Independence Day celebration at a Baptist church that predates the founding of the nation. But this year – that tradition has come to an end.

Officials at Fort Gordon say they will not be able to send an honor guard to a July 5th service at Abilene Baptist Church because it violates a military policy banning any involvement in a religious service

.More @ Fox
When I attended a friend’s memorial – in a church – members of the military performed the flag fold ceremony.  As had been done for thousands, probably millions, of service persons.
The above report is an anathema.
