A Couple Of Observations Regarding O.C.

From NJT

Pelosi v 2.0

Nancy Pelosi’s daughter:  “Should we protect police by ending Open Carry?

T-Bolt: “No.  Next question.”

Aw, c’mon T-Bolt!  Elaborate.

Well, have a lot of Open Carry types aired out cops?  No.  The threat to cops is not from them.  At worst, a subset of OC folks have been douchenozzles.  But those folks are a subject of ridicule, and not a threat vector for law enforcement.   And folks do, indeed have the right to, among other things, be a douchenozzle.

And trying to connect OC with the Tamir Rice thing, Ms. Pelosi Jr.?  Please…

“Did you call me a douchenozzle?  I’m OFFENDED!”

“I see.”

Being an over-the-top, obnoxious idiot when carrying a firearm, whether concealed or openly, is not recommended.  Doing so tends to bring the attention of the constabulary and hoplophobes, everywhere.

In a libertarian, constitutional world, law-abiding citizens should be able to carry in any manner.  Any kind of weapon.

Period.

Has ANYONE ever made the observation that uniformed police open carry with impunity?
Should we be offended by THAT?  And in so doing, are they less safe?
Of course not, and in the sense of parity and civil liberties, they should not be offended by lawful civilians open-carrying.
SO THERE!
(Having said that, there is something to be said for being discrete.  🙂  )

  1. Wow…it really does run in the family.
I can’t blame pelosi jr for being an idiot, she was brainwashed from birth by one of the supreme idiots of modern times. I CAN blame her for a lack of critical thinking skills that she should have developed on her own. Now she’s proven herself to be another oxygen wasting liberal idiot.

  2. “. . . uniformed police open carry with impunity . . .” Apples and oranges. Uniformed police are just that, uniformed, and are not seen as a possible threat to public safety.
I live in an open carry state, but a more populous part, and of the four open carriers I’ve seen in the six years I’ve lived here, three of them were so distracted by their activities that anyone could have taken their guns from their cheap nylon holsters.
I agree that OC should be legal, but the people who practice it should recognize its hazards.

    • Oh, I understand the inherent responsibility. I guess my concern is that in places like AZ, it used to be the Law, the ONLY law, and few looked askance.
But with the increased influence of coastal (anti-gun) folks, society has changed.
      And it shouldn’t have!
      Thanks for your input.

  3. Generally don’t open carry because I feel like it’s too much of an invitation for stupid – either of the “OMG A GUN!” type or of the grabbing for my gun for whatever reason type. That said, it’s really annoying that I have to be concerned about the OMG type. I’ve seen some of them drive – that’s scarier than my gun.

  4. Fortunately, open carry is so common here – as are firearms in general – that it doesn’t invite comment, 99.9% of the time. Are open carriers a threat to public safety? No; it’s the thugs & wannabes with a stolen gun in their coat pocket that tend to be the problem.

  5. Arizona and Alaska are anomalous states in the OC brigade. In most of the country, even gun-friendly states, OC is so rare that it attracts attention and often freaks people out. Personally, I think it’s foolish to draw unwanted attention to yourself for any reason. If your state requires a permit for OC, throw on a jacket or a vest. (And the “It’s too hot here” excuse doesn’t really fly. I carried a full-sized pistol concealed in Florida every day for three years.) If your state allows unpermitted OC, spend a few bucks, get some training, and get a CCW permit. It’s worth the cost in hassle avoidance.

    • It’s just too bad all of us cannot exercise our rights without cultural restriction. If folks OC carried as often as they did when there was no permittage, everywhere, the issue would not exist.
I have had my CCW permit and AZ DPS creds to teach for many years.
And Az is also a Constitutional carry State.
But I carry concealed 90+% of the time.
